China to issue commemorative coin to mark Year of the Mouse
The People’s Bank of China (PBOC), the central bank, said Tuesday that it would issue a commemorative coin on Wednesday to mark the traditional lunar new year.
The bank will offer 10 million brass alloy coins with a face value of one yuan (0.138 U.S. dollar) each.
On its face, the coin will say “PBOC” and “one yuan” in Chinese with the year 2008 in numerals.
The reverse side will show a boy holding in his left hand a Chinese knot in the shape of a mouse, symbolizing the mouse year that starts…
